At the end of 2024, the I-80 corridor from Morris to Frankfort saw seven vacuum shops close their doors, leaving many residents and businesses with fewer local repair options. I served as the head mechanic at Conrad Vacuum in Joliet for more than 25 years, and that long tenure taught me the ins and outs of repair, attentive customer care, and the practical demands of running a small shop. Faced with shifts in how customers shop and communicate, I chose to start my own vacuum repair company to preserve skilled service in the area.
